Dramatic Production: Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”
December 1, 2023
Dramatic readings were a popular form of entertainment when Grey Towers was occupied by the Pinchot family in the late 1800s through the mid-twentieth century. The US Forest Service and Grey Towers Heritage Association have re-created these literary programs with readings and dramatizations.
Join us for our 43rd year of an artistic presentation of this holiday classic!
For the past 43 years, the Plummer family has presented a dramatic reading of Charles Dickens’ beloved classic A Christmas Carol in the great hall at Grey Towers. The tradition began in 1980 with Joe Plummer Sr. performing a solo version of the story and in 2000 he was joined by his son — also Joe Plummer — who was then subsequently joined by his sister Therese Plummer (10 years ago) when the senior Plummer retired.
This year Joe Plummer Jr. returns to Grey Towers for a solo performance of the holiday classic bringing the tradition full-circle. The performance is 85-minutes and not recommended for children under the age of 10.
