Tales of the Flute: Demo & Stories

flute made in Paris by Claude LaurentJames and Mary Pinchot were avid patrons of the arts. Their legacy will be celebrated at their parish church, Good Shepherd Church in Milford. Enjoy a lecture and demonstration of a rare private collection of historical flutes by Mark Leone. Be surprised at which rare flutes he owns from noted historical figures.

The lecture will be followed by a recorded performance of four professional musicians playing these instruments along with a reception.



The cobalt flute was made in 1813 by Claude Laurent and owned by Louis Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon. This one has been on loan to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the past 4 years and is home for a visit.

The “flutes de crystal” was made in Paris by Claude Laurent in 1821.
