SUMMARY:Spiritualism at Grey Towers
DESCRIPTION:What was the connection between Gifford Pinchot and spiritualism at Grey Towers? \nIt’s a story of love after death — and much more. \nThe American story of spiritualism begins in the Finger Lakes region with a belief in the afterlife and the importance of living a good life via spiritual growth and dedication to community.  It had a very real effect on Gifford Pinchot’s commitment to public service and conservation. \nThe form of spiritualism to which Gifford adhered is also a belief that people may maintain a connection with the dead. Gifford’s diary writings over a twenty-year period indicate that he connected regularly with Laura Houghteling after her death from tuberculosis shortly before they were to be married. \nDiscover the origins of spiritualism\, Gifford Pinchot’s spiritual relationship with Laura after her untimely death\, and the significance of the contents of a blue Tiffany box. \nRev. Darrell Berger\, with a Masters in Divinity\, will lead a fascinating presentation about Grey Towers and spiritualism. \nRegistration required. \nFree for members – please RSVP! \n$10 for non-members
