DESCRIPTION:Join us for the Grey Towers Heritage Association Annual Membership Meeting at Grey Towers National Historic Site Pool Terrace. \nThis is our opportunity to reflect on an outstanding year\, share plans and goals for the future\, and thank our members and supporters whose time\, ideas\, volunteer efforts\, and memberships continue helping make Grey Towers such a special place. \nWe are also pleased to welcome the new U.S. Forest Service Director of Grey Towers\, Katie Armstrong. \nAt 10:30 a.m.\, members will enjoy a special private tour of the new 2026 museum exhibit\, “Where Forests Teach\,” featuring historic photographs\, postcards\, personal letters\, forestry tools\, and materials connected to the Yale Forest School and camp life at Grey Towers. \nWe hope you will join us for the meeting\, conversation\, and fellowship as we continue supporting the mission and legacy of Grey Towers together. \nWe look forward to seeing you there! \nPlease RSVP below.

SUMMARY:Reading Ranger: Headstrong Hallie! and Smokey Story
DESCRIPTION:Today’s topic will be on fire towers and fire prevention. \nThe book will be Headstrong Hallie and Smokey Story. \nThe activity will be a hike to the fire tower. \nThis stunningly illustrated picture-book biography tells the story of Hallie Morse Daggett\, the first woman “fire guard” hired by the US Forest Service\, whose hard work and dedication led the way for other women to join the Forest Service. \nEach week\, children will be read a book and then complete an activity. All participants must have a parent or guardian with them during the program. Our program includes read-aloud stories focusing on environmentalism and conservation\, read by a Forest Service Ranger and volunteers. \nWe are proud to promote the Forest 250 initiative to inspire our younger guests to become good stewards of the land. \nContact information: Kristine Cochrane\, 570-296-9630
