Dramatic performances were a popular form of entertainment when Grey Towers was occupied by the Pinchot family in the late 1800s through the mid-twentieth century. The US Forest Service and Grey Towers Heritage Association have re-created these literary programs with readings and dramatizations.
The 47th annual performance of Charles Dickens’ immortal classic A Christmas Carol.
This 90-minute performance features the original text by Charles Dickens as he himself performed it during his reading tour of America. For 47 years, one or more members of the Plummer family have presented this performance in the Great Hall of Grey Towers. Twenty-six years ago, Joe asked his father, who was doing a one-man version of A Christmas Carol, if he would be open to developing a two-man version. His father said, “Yes!” and the two-man tradition began.
While skeptical at first, the older Joe Plummer soon realized how much more fun the two-man performance was, and he never looked back. In 2010, Joe Sr. stepped away from performances because of his declining health, and Joe’s sister Thérèse came aboard. Now, after a brief absence due to a terrible accident and protracted recovery, Therese is back to join her brother and keep the Plummer family tradition alive at Grey Towers!

Joe Plummer, Narrator/Dramatic Performer, is a multi-Emmy Award-winning and Tony Award-winning producer, Co-CEO and President of Wavelength, a film studio located in Brooklyn, NY. Joe oversees all in-house production as well as investment and development across narrative, unscripted, and theatrical productions for the company and has been in his current role for the past five years. Trained as a Shakespearean actor with an MFA from Brandeis University, Joe produced theater in New York City before turning to the film world.
Thérèse Plummer, Narrator/Dramatic Performer, is an actor an Audible Hall of Fame Narrator for the class of 2026. She has recorded over 600 audiobooks for various publishers. Thérèse is an accomplished storyteller with multiple Earphone and Audie awards. She is the voice of Maya Hansen in the Marvel Graphic Motion Comic “Ironman Extremis,” Dr. Fennel in “Pokémon,” and various “Yu-Gi-Oh!” characters.
