The Sylvania Gilbert and Sullivan Society will be offering a selection of works by Victorian-era dramatist W. S. Gilbert and composer Arthur Sullivan to delight and entertain. The pair are well-known for their wit and sense of irony, and their send-ups of politics and contemporary culture. Works include The Pirates of Penzance, H.M.S. Pinafore, and The Mikado. It has been said that the duo has inspired musical composers such as George Gershwin and Andrew Lloyd Webber and musicians such as Pink Floyd, Joni Mitchell, and Peter, Paul, and Mary.
The Society brings the love and magic of opera, music, and theatre to the Delaware Valley area.
