Return to the Homeland: A Lenni Lenape Journey
July 16, 2022
4:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Grey Towers Heritage Association is sponsoring the local premiere of “The Water Gap: Return to the Homeland.”
This film documents the journey of Lenni Lenape youth as they return from Oklahoma to trace their ancestors’ roots in our area and truly discover Lenapehoking, the Lenape word for their homelands. Their reflective journey throughout our area is highlighted in the film.
Our guest of honor is Chief Daniel StrongWalker Thomas, Hereditary Chief of the Lenape Nation. He is an ardent advocate for preserving the Lenni Lenape heritage and is Chief Servant Leader at Global Initiative for Indigenous Advancement. Ken Sandri, Forest Service, who served as a consultant on the film, will introduce Chief Daniel.
The film will be followed by a celebratory hors d’oeuvre reception at the Tom Quick Inn. We are grateful for the hospitality and partnership with the Milford Theater and the Milford Hospitality Group.
Doors for film will open at 3pm.
