Reading Rangers: Why Would Anyone Cut a Tree Down
July 20, 2026
10:00 am - 11:00 am
Today’s topic will be the importance of trees and forestry.
The book will be Why Would Anyone Cut a Tree Down.
The activity will be a craft.
This delightful book shows children the life cycle of trees, showing that trees are a renewable resource, as their seeds can be planted to make new trees grow. It also discusses the need to remove sick, flammable, and other dangerous trees as well as the various uses for wood from cut trees.
Each week, children will be read a book and then complete an activity. All participants must have a parent or guardian with them during the program. Our program includes read-aloud stories focusing on environmentalism and conservation, read by a Forest Service Ranger and volunteers.
We are proud to promote the Forest 250 initiative to inspire our younger guests to become good stewards of the land.
